Specialists
Customizable agent personas and domain specialists with their own priors, models, skills, MCPs, and brains.
Specialists (/dashboard/specialists) bundle a cognitive style (PRIORS.md), a default model, an allowlist of skills, tools, and MCP servers, and a dedicated Specialist Brain (MEMORY.md + Omnigraph ontology lens) into a reusable profile you can pick in the Composer (+ → Specialist), summon via Capy, or select in the CLI (/specialist).
Starter Personas & Domain Specialists
Sandwalk seeds a roster of starter Specialists alongside domain-specific scientific specialists. These are starter defaults: you can edit any of them or click + New specialist in the top-right header to create your own.

Sandwalk also ships with scientific Specialists (Target Discovery, Protein Designer, Medicinal Chemist, Single-cell Analyst, Genomics Analyst, Clinical Trial Strategist, Literature Synthesizer, and Fast Computational Scientist).
Creating a Custom Specialist (+ New specialist)
- Open Dashboard → Specialists and click
+ New specialistin the top-right header. - Identity & Appearance:
- Click the avatar circle to choose from the built-in portraits, icons, or color accents.
- Enter a Name, optional Slug, short Description (shown in pickers), and Instructions (appended to the system prompt when this Specialist is active).
- Skills, Tools & MCP Allowlists:
- Skills: Attach specific installed or crystallized skills (
Add a skill...). - Tools: Toggle which Core and Extra tools this Specialist can call (keeping unrelated domain tools off so the prompt budget stays fast and focused).
- MCPs: Scope which MCP servers are active for this Specialist.

- Click Create specialist.
Using the Profile Inspector Drawer
Click any card in Dashboard → Specialists to open the right-side Profile Inspector Drawer:
- Info: Edit
Cognitive Priors & Biases (PRIORS.md), role label, custom avatar URL, and active Omnigraph Cookbook lens (01–06) inline. - Runtime: Set a dedicated default model and provider for this Specialist.
- Skills: Inspect and manage attached skills.
- Memories (
specialist:<id>): View and teach durable rules directly to this Specialist's private brain, or click Explore Brain & Ontology Graph to open its scoped Knowledge Graph in Memory & Wiki. - Quick Start Chat (
▶): Click the play button on any card (or in the drawer header) to immediately launch a chat with that Specialist selected in the Composer toolbar ([Avatar] Otium ×).
